Jewelry from the world of Opera

The Tales of Hoffman

The Tales of Hoffman , an opera by Jacques Offenbach, takes place in the Romance era of the early 1800s. The characters of the opera provided an inspiration to jewellery designer Kirsti Doukas for her second jewellery collection of Savonlinna Opera Festival. Each of the silver-encased glass relief interprets the essential nature of Hoffman’s three beloved ones.

The Horseman

The Horseman by Finnish composer Aulis Sallinen is where Kirsti Doukas draws her inspiration for the third jewelry collection for the Savonlinna Opera Festival. The Horseman is a romantic story describing love under circumstances that prove to be thorny not only for a man but especially for a woman. Objects found in the world of horsemanship inspire the allusion to the collection: metal rings, harnesses, and leather straps and laces.

Carmen

The story of Carmen inspired Kirsti Doukas to design the fourth Kalevala Jewelry and Savonlinna Opera Festival collection. Carmen's versatile personality is portrayed in the elegant feminine jewellery that combines both sensibility and strenght.

Daddys girl

The fifth opera jewelry Daddy’s girl is an opera about the transformations in the Finnish society as seen through the eyes of one family. The stories of the family members are entwined in the necklace and form a unified chain to depict continuity.
