Daddy's girl

Daddy’s girl is an opera about the transformations in the Finnish society as seen through the eyes of one family. It tells the story of women from three different generations and of their choices, accomplishments and losses. The opera, composed by Olli Kortekangas, inspired Kirsti Doukas to design the fifth Kalevala Jewelry and Savonlinna Opera festival jewelry collection. The stories of the family members are entwined in the necklace and form a unified chain to depict continuity. A photo of a loved-one is hidden in a medallion and kept close to heart. The story of the family is also told by the jewelry in the shape of a family tree. The branches are decorated with colourful precious stones topaz and smoky quartz. The jewelry transmits the stories from father to daughter.
