The prototype for this pendant, which probably dates from the Middle Ages, was found in Inari in Lappland. The ancient jewelry designs of the Saame people were quite ornate. In this piece, the circular pendant is ornamented with three lacy bangels. The Saame people preferred silver jewellery, which was often given to the family of the bride-to-be to celebrate the betrothal.
