Kalevala Jewelry - Join the story.
Just like people, also every piece of jewelry has its own story to tell.
The Classic pieces carry messages and symbolism from thousand years ago. One of the most known classic pieces of Kalevala Jewelry is the Halikko necklace . The prototype of this Kalevala Jewelry design dates back to the 12th century. The string of filigreed balls was found with three silver cross pendants in Halikko, in southwestern Finland. The valuable find was buried in an earthenware jar during the conversion of Finland to Christianity, about 800 years ago. Another classic is the Treasure necklace. The prototypes of this necklace’s dangles derive from caches hidden in the ground a thousand years ago. In troubled times, people often hid their valuables underground, although the caches might also have had religious significance. Treasure necklace incorporates the most attractive dangles discovered as hidden treasure.
In addition to historic symbolism, also nature and literature have inspired our designers. Kalevala Jewelry's talented designer Marja Sunas collections are often inspired by nature. Snow flower celebrates the diversity of nature while the Wind-collection was inspired by the passing light sways and the delicate movement it creates.
The more modern pieces, created by talented designers, tell to story of inspiration.
