The prototype for this Saame, or Lapp, ring is from around Kittilä and Enontekiö area. The rings of the Saame people often had tingling bangles or charms. By tradition, they were given to the family of the bride-to-be to celelebrate the betrothal. Saame rings were always made of silver.
