Kirsti Doukas

High design is Kalevala Jewelry’s success factor and competition tool. Moving from imitating ancient jewelry to the current, highly story-combined and design-weighted line has happened gradually: Kirsti Doukas designed in almost 10 years’ time sophisticated silver jewelry collections for Kalevala Jewelry’s subsidiary, Kaunis Koru. At the turn of the millenium Kaunis Koru merged with Kalevala Jewelry. The already existed design lines moved with Kirsti Doukas to Kalevala Jewelry’s collections.

Kirsti Doukas, goldsmith and Master of Arts, is one of the best known jewelry designers in Finland. She has worked for Kalevala Jewelry since 1989 and as a designer since 1994. She has designed private collections for several companies but she is best known for her stylish jewelry lines, such as Twinflower, Fountain and Dream as well as for her opera jewelry series called Tales of Hoffmann, The Horseman, Carmen and Daddy’s Girl.

The design of Kirsti Doukas is based on a very thorough background work, usability and beautiful clear forms. Her unique pieces have been on view in the most significant exhibitions in Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Her production has a modern, bold grip and a clear and in detail finished design.

The Finnish Goldsmith Association awarded her the “Goldsmith of the year” award in 1999. She was also awarded the appreciated State Prize for Design 2006 for appreciable merits in the field of jewelry design.
